Red Willow County creates opioid fund and approves service support, and allows $504,719.14 in claims

At its July 13 meeting the Red Willow County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution No.1600 to create an Opioid Fund (listed in the consent agenda) and approved routine budget actions and vendor claims totaling $504,719.14 across county funds.

During the meeting Donna Goad of Domestic Abuse/Sexual Assault Services requested continued county support for fiscal year 2026/2027. The board voted to continue support at $10,601.00 for the 2026/2027 fiscal year (motion by Randy Dean, seconded by Charles Fritsche; roll call ayes). Joyce Anderson of the McCook Humane Society also requested support; the board voted to continue support at $450.00 per month for FY 2026/2027 (motion by Randy Dean, seconded by Charles Fritsche; roll call ayes).

Rose Weskamp recommended the county consider a recovery center that could be supported in part by the newly created Opioid Fund. The consent agenda also included an Interlocal Participation Agreement with Region II Human Services and multiple roadway-occupancy permits and appointments; those consent-agenda items were approved by a single unanimous motion. The minutes contain detailed vendor claims for multiple county funds and document NIRMA insurance and other large items in the accounts-payable listing.
