Select Board accepts $9,900 highway-safety grant and approves $44,000 conservation easement purchase

The Hollis Select Board voted to accept a $9,900 highway-safety grant for fiscal year 2027 to support extra patrols for motor-vehicle-related enforcement. The police chief clarified the award is identical to last year's, will not be used for DWI checkpoints, and that the state asks only for a metric (three stops per hour) to demonstrate appropriate use of funds; officers retain discretion on enforcement.

Motion to accept the grant was made and seconded and carried by voice vote after a minor correction to the fiscal-year reference.

On land conservation, the board voted to expend $44,000 from the Conservation Fund to acquire an agricultural conservation lease/easement on property at 9 Procter Hill (DePaulis Family Revocable Trust, MDLU 052-020). A representative from the Conservation Commission attended for questions. The board also approved a motion appointing the Select Board chair as the designated signatory to execute closing documents after closing.

Both votes were carried by voice vote with no recorded roll-call opposition noted in the public minutes.
