Middletown council carries routine resolutions including procurement awards and grants

The Middletown Common Council approved a series of largely routine resolutions during its meeting, carrying each by roll call.

Resolutions that passed included incorporation of CDM Smith’s 2026 early rate schedule into city contracts; declaring certain Department of Public Works and a police vehicle surplus and authorizing disposal; approval to accept the 2026–2027 gun violence elimination grant; acceptance of a $1,000 donation from 1st Federal Savings for outdoor movie night; establishment of the confidential secretary’s salary to the Commission of Public Works; an amendment to agreements with CherryRoad Technologies (Amendment No. 9); authorization to transfer general funds to cover insurance claims; and awards for a range of service contracts and bid items (tire disposal, annual HVAC maintenance, annual electrical and plumbing maintenance, chemicals, water pipe and gray iron castings, and annual maintenance contracts).

The council also approved a negative declaration under SEQR and amended the zoning map to rezone 205–207 Monhagen Avenue from C-2 Limited Business to C-3A Limited General Business District. Each resolution was called, the clerk took roll, and the council recorded 'Aye' votes; the clerk announced that the measures carried.

None of the votes generated extended debate on the council floor; items were described by departmental presenters as necessary operating or maintenance actions. Several council members offered brief acknowledgements of staff work before or after votes.
