Maries R-1 board approves routine business, adds substitute and accepts financial reports

At its Jan. 27, 2026 meeting the Maries R-1 School Board approved routine business items including the agenda (as amended) and the Dec. 16, 2025 minutes. The board approved the bills and direct deposit list; the motion was seconded by Kevin Heavin and recorded as passing 6-0, with Matt Novak abstaining specifically on check #7716.

Under old business the board voted to add Jayden Schell to the district substitute list (motion recorded in the minutes as passing 7-0). The minutes list “Others” in attendance including Paula Schwartze and Alin Hett and note administrative reports delivered by Superintendent Teresa Messersmith, Elementary administrator Shanda Snodgrass, HS/MS administrator Tim Metcalf and Special Education administrator Joe Edwards.
