Richmond City Council formally introduces six items at brief special meeting

The Richmond City Council held a brief special meeting in which the presiding officer called the session to order, the city clerk read a chamber emergency-evacuation announcement, and the council formally introduced a list of six legislative items that were provided to members.

The meeting matters were procedural: Madam President opened the session and asked Mr. Clark, the clerk, to make the evacuation announcement and read the legislation-introduction statement. Mr. Clark told attendees, "Upon activation of the emergency alarm signal, all persons should immediately exit the building," directing people to use the exits to the left-to-right front of the council chamber or the north or south stairwells and to gather at the fenced area between Clay and Lee Streets along 9th Street. He also noted able-bodied persons should assist visually and hearing-impaired visitors with exiting.

For the record, Mr. Clark stated that all council members were present except for members Gibson, Jones, Robertson and Lynch and confirmed a quorum was present. Following that announcement, Mr. Clark said a list of legislation for introduction consisting of items 1 through 6 had been provided to council and "the legislation on this list is hereby introduced as presented." He added that a copy of the list is available for public inspection at the rear of the council chamber and that an electronic copy and the texts of the listed legislation will be available on the city's website on Tuesday, July 7.

No votes or debates were recorded on any of the introduced items during the session. After the introductions, the presiding officer declared the agenda complete and adjourned the meeting.
