Cullman County Museum introduces new director Molly Bloom, plans education and outreach

Christy Turner of the Parks and Recreation department introduced Molly Bloom as the new director of the Cullman County Museum during the July 6 Cullman City Council meeting.

Bloom said she has been at the museum "for now just 2 months" and described the institution’s sizeable collections and plans for public outreach and educational programming. She reported the museum’s first free children’s event drew 32 kids and said she expects to host about three to five educational events per year.

Turner noted Bloom’s background, including a master’s degree in material culture and artifact studies from the University of Glasgow and prior work managing collections and educational programs. The council and staff welcomed Bloom and encouraged public engagement with upcoming museum offerings.

Why it matters: a staffed museum director can expand public programming, school outreach and exhibitions that support local history and tourism. Bloom’s early events and outreach are part of the city’s broader cultural and tourism activities.
