Commissioners approve routine payroll and reports, appoint redevelopment representative and accept resignation of retirement center director

During the June 12 meeting the commissioners handled routine administrative matters and took a personnel action.

The payroll docket, the Jay County Country Living county home report for May 2023, and the clerk's monthly report were all approved on unanimous motions. An Indiana Bond Bank fuel claim for $881.40 was approved. A funding request for items related to a planned new pickleball court was tabled after the board noted Portland Park Board members believed the project was already fully funded.

Commissioner Brian McGalliard moved to appoint Shannon Current as the School Board non‑voting member to the Jay County Redevelopment Commission; the motion passed unanimously. The board read and accepted a resignation letter from Melissa Blankley, director of the Jay County Retirement Center; her last day was listed as June 23, 2023, and minutes note a possibility she could work a few days a week during transition.

With no further business, the commissioners adjourned the meeting at 10:55 a.m.
