Owner asks Chaplin commission for support letter for proposed 55+ housing at Rocking Horse Farm

At the July 9 meeting Lisa Rice, owner of Rocking Horse Farm on Route 6, asked the Planning & Zoning Commission for a letter supporting a previously discussed concept for a 55+ housing development on the back portion of her property. Rice told the commission she is seeking to sell the property because of a lack of funding for the project.

Commissioners noted that the concept would require an amendment to the town's zoning regulations and that advisory opinions have not been provided. Alternate Commissioner Jim McPherson asked about how the town would respond if a prospective buyer made an inquiry; the commission said the zoning enforcement officer would meet with an inquiring buyer, provide a copy of the zoning regulations, and ask about plans for the property. No formal action or vote on a support letter was recorded in the transcript.
