Agency official thanks neighbors, outlines storm response in Salisbury

An agency official in Salisbury thanked neighbors and emergency crews and outlined the town's recovery steps one week after a severe, highly localized windstorm knocked down trees, blocked roads and snapped utility poles.

The speaker, identified in the transcript only by their role, said the town had declared a state of emergency on the Sunday immediately after the storm but does not expect to pursue a FEMA disaster declaration. "I did declare a state of emergency on Sunday, right after this storm," the speaker said. They added that the declaration may help residents with insurance claims and could assist the state in applying for federal emergency grants.
