Select Board schedules July 22 hearings on recycling and OHRV ordinance updates

The Town of Washington Select Board posted a legal notice that it will conduct public hearings on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Washington Town Hall to receive public comment on proposed amendments to two town ordinances.

The hearings will cover proposed clarifications to the Town Recycling Ordinance, including updated recycling and scale rules and procedures, and revisions to the Town Ordinance governing Operation of Off Highway Utility Vehicles (OHRVs). The notice says the OHRV amendments are intended to conform the town’s definitions to current New Hampshire statutory definitions and that the proposed change “does not alter current allowed use of OHRVs.” Full copies of the proposed amendments are available for review at the Select Board Office during regular business hours, and written or emailed comments may be submitted via the town website prior to the hearing.

The legal notice was posted at Town Hall and the Post Office. The Select Board encouraged residents unable to attend in person to submit comments in writing or by email before the hearing. The hearings are part of the Select Board’s formal review process; no final action on the ordinances was recorded at the July 9 meeting.
