Orangeville’s council on July 9 moved through routine business and approved several items by voice vote, including minutes, a fee-schedule resolution and adoption of the county pre-disaster mitigation plan.
The council approved minutes for the enterprise hearing, budget hearing and regular session from June 11, 2026, following motions and seconding from council members. The chair confirmed each member’s yea vote and declared the motions passed.
The council adopted Resolution 2026-9 to update and consolidate the city fee schedule. The council also adopted Resolution 2026-10, which accepts the Emery County pre-disaster mitigation plan; Treasury staff explained the plan references federal guidelines and aims to reduce long-term risk from natural hazards.
On utility billing, staff reported that a customer (Susan Abbas) had been double-charged for an extra garbage can for an eight-month period. Staff recommended, and the council approved, a $59.20 credit to the customer’s account: “She was charged for 8 months for 2 cans without us catching it… So her credit back would be $59.20,” a staff member said.
The council also approved adding Christine Curtis and Jessica Allen as authorized signers on the city’s Zions Bank account, a bank requirement for deposit drop-offs. On facilities maintenance, staff said air-conditioning repairs at city hall and the community center were discussed but the invoice had not yet been received; staff recommended tabling final ratification until the bill is available, and the council agreed with the recommendation.
Procedural notes and next steps: several items had been discussed at the previous meeting and the council reaffirmed them at this session; administrative follow-up will include posting updated fees and completing the bank-signing documentation.
