Lake City council adopts new water rates effective Aug. 1

The Lake City Council voted on July 6 to adopt Ordinance No. 418, which amends the city’s water rates with an effective date of Aug. 1, 2026, and a first billing due date of Aug. 20, 2026. The motion to approve the third reading and adoption was made by Councilmember Wilson and seconded by Councilmember Daniel. Roll call recorded ayes from Bruns, Wilson, Gorden and Daniel and a single nay from Vogt.

The ordinance changes the municipal water rate schedule as presented during the meeting. Council did not record any public comment on the matter at the meeting. Implementation steps identified in the action include the new effective date and the billing schedule; staff will apply the amended rates beginning with August billings.

The council’s adoption followed the statutory three-reading process for municipal ordinances. Residents seeking details about specific meter classes, tiered rates or billing examples were directed to contact City Hall for the ordinance text and rate tables. The council did not amend the ordinance at the July 6 meeting.

The ordinance is now enacted and will go into effect Aug. 1, 2026, with the first bills under the new schedule due Aug. 20, 2026.
