Lake City advances zoning changes for two parcels to first reading after no public comment

The Lake City Council opened a public hearing at 6:09 p.m. on July 6 to consider Ordinance No. 420, which would rezone two properties—115 W Main St from C-1 to R-2 and 108 S Michigan St from R-1 to R-2. Mayor Schleisman called for public comment; no members of the public spoke. The council closed the hearing at 6:10 p.m. and later approved the ordinance’s first reading by motion and roll call vote.

Councilmembers Bruns and Wilson led the motions related to the hearing and the first reading. The council recorded unanimous ayes on the first-reading motion. Council minutes indicate a formal resolution or further readings will follow the city’s ordinance process before any zoning changes take effect.

Residents or parties with an interest in the rezoning were directed to contact City Hall to review the ordinance text and the legal descriptions of the parcels in question. The first-reading approval advances the ordinance to subsequent readings and public process required by municipal code.
