Poweshiek County supervisors approve liquor license, payroll and consulting contract

The Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors approved several routine items at its July 6 meeting, including a liquor license, the payroll register and a consulting contract.

Supervisor Jacki Bolen moved and Supervisor Jason Roudabush seconded to approve the agenda and the June 29, 2026 minutes; both motions carried on 2-0 votes. The board then approved a liquor license for Triple K Sips LLC, doing business as Lucky Wife Wine Slushies, at 268 Center Point Drive in Montezuma for an event scheduled Sept. 6, 2026. The motion to approve the license was moved by Bolen, seconded by Roudabush and recorded as 2 ayes.

The board approved the July 2, 2026 payroll in the amount of $318,092.58 on a motion by Bolen, seconded by Roudabush. Supervisors also approved a contract with Cost Advisory Services, Inc. to provide professional consulting services to Poweshiek County for preparing the annual cost allocation plan; that motion likewise carried 2-0.

During the meeting Engineer Lyle Brehm reported an inquiry from an individual interested in purchasing land within the unincorporated village of Dresden in Deep River Township who asked whether the plat or streets could be vacated. Brehm said the county can process a plat or street vacation but recommended doing so only after ownership transfers to the potential buyer. Supervisor Roudabush noted upcoming meetings, and the board adjourned at 10:56 a.m.
