The commissioners approved a request from Chris (S6) to pursue a state homeland security grant to purchase concrete barriers for vehicle-control operations at covered-bridge and other community events.
S6 said the grant is a no-match award similar to one sought the previous year and that the county would use the barriers during events in Bridgeton, Mansfield and Brockville as needed. "The no-match grant... I'm gonna use to buy concrete barriers to control vehicle traffic," S6 said.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval for the sheriff's office to apply for the grant and to store and reuse barriers for future events; the motion passed by voice vote. S6 said county staff (Matt) would handle deployment and storage logistics.
Next steps: staff will complete the grant application and proceed with procurement if the grant is awarded. The transcript did not record a grant award at this meeting.
