Library expansion progresses; director to get firm elevator and door costs after initial invoices total ~$38,556

The Queoscombe Library Board heard an update July 10 on the library expansion and accessibility planning: flooring and wiring for the new section are complete, juvenile bookshelves have been installed and adult shelving will be assembled in August, and invoices received so far total $38,556.60.

An agency official (speaker 6) representing village finances told the board that, from submitted invoices, expansion costs to date are $38,556.60. Director (speaker 5) said she has found references in older documents to a $300,000 elevator figure but cannot confirm that amount; she will obtain current quotes and work with grant contacts and a vendor to produce a realistic estimate.

Board members discussed prioritizing ADA-compliant doors before pursuing an elevator because of practicality and cost; the director said Dennis from DPW had been asked for door quotes and she will follow up. Director (speaker 5) also said IT work related to the Polaris migration has slowed computer hookups for the new room but that shelving and most construction tasks are proceeding.
