Coggon fire/EMS logs activity, secures small grants; parks pickleball court near completion

The Coggon meeting on July 8 included department reports showing active public-safety responses and ongoing park improvements.

Fire/EMS reported seven EMS responses, two storm-watch calls, one vegetation fire and nine first-aid station standbys during the reporting period. The Coggon Fire & Rescue Association received a Firehouse Subs grant and a St. Luke's Rural Health 50/50 grant for $3,278; the fire department also noted it submitted an Assistance to Firefighters Grant application. The department was requested to be on standby for Woody's Mud Run on July 31–Aug. 1.

Parks staff reported fencing and asphalt for the new Pickleball Court are complete; backfilling was under way and surface painting was scheduled for the week of July 27. Pillard Park sod installation was complete and is being watered; staff will obtain a quote for a stage roof for future work. Payees recorded in the minutes list vendors and contractors associated with park and court construction.
