Residents urge Lake County to adopt energy policy after reports of hydrogen exploration

A caller said a recent news article reported that a Bill Gates–backed hydrogen developer had spent the past year exploring for naturally occurring hydrogen in Lake County and that roadside and private-property surveys had taken place without public release of results.

"The people of Lake County should not have to learn about major energy exploration from a newspaper article," the caller said, and asked why the board had not provided a public presentation explaining what the county knew and what exploration could mean for local communities. The speaker urged the board to adopt a comprehensive energy policy that would set protections for waters, tribal resources and agricultural lands and define what the community will support.
