Bay County magistrate orders 10-day cleanup at Sunrise Drive property with fines if unresolved

On July 10 the Bay County special magistrate accepted code enforcement’s recommendation that the property at 6622 Sunrise Drive, Panama City Beach (East End), be found in violation of Bay County Code section 17‑2 for junk, trash, unscreened personal property, overgrowth and derelict vehicles.

Investigator testimony (Sherry Brandon Erwin) summarized repeated inspections after a complaint in February 2026 showing junk, derelict vehicles and overgrowth; photographic evidence and certified notices were entered into the record. Erwin said the property remained in violation on a July 2 reinspection and recommended a reasonable time of 10 days to remove debris, screen or store unscreened property and mow overgrowth; she warned that repeat violations would be considered repeat offenses.

The magistrate accepted the recommendation and ordered the property owner to remove and lawfully dispose of junk and trash within 10 days, cut grass and properly store or screen unused personal property. The order included an initial fine of $200 and a $25 daily fine after 10 days, lien authority, and county abatement procedures if compliance is not achieved within 30 days. A compliance hearing is set for Aug. 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

No parties were present to speak at today’s hearing; the magistrate confirmed proper notice had been provided to the parties on file.
