On July 10 Bay County code enforcement reported that the property at 6931 Hayes Road in Southport remained in violation of Bay County Code section 17‑2 for derelict vehicles, overgrowth and trash. Investigator Jim Justice introduced photographs and inspection notes from April–July 2026 showing derelict vehicles and repeated overgrowth; he said the parcel’s taxes are delinquent since 2024.
Justice recommended a 10‑day period for the owner to cut overgrowth, remove and properly dispose of trash, and remove or shelter derelict vehicles (allowing one derelict vehicle to remain unscreened). He told the magistrate his inspection suggested someone might be living in a vehicle in the rear of the lot.
The magistrate accepted the recommendation, ordered the cleanup within 10 days, set an initial fine of $200 and a $25 daily fine after the 10th day, and warned that county abatement could follow if the property is not brought into compliance by 30 days. A compliance hearing is scheduled for Aug. 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
