Council backs $47,350 design supplement for multiuse path boardwalk, aiming to boost grant competitiveness

Kyle Brewer presented an update on the Segment 1 multiuse path connecting Magnolia Reserve to Station 25 and requested an additional $47,350 to complete design for a substantial boardwalk across Beckys Creek.

Brewer said soils work is complete and a third‑party report was transmitted to the design consultant; the requested supplement covers continued design to a final, bid‑ready level so grant applications (including TAP and other federal opportunities) will be viable. "This portion of the project is going to cost that amount," Brewer said, noting the cost is not part of the project MEP budget and will be followed by budget amendments if approved.

Council provided consensus to move forward; staff said they will continue seeking grants and will return with budget amendment language and any additional cost estimates requested by the council.
