Neighbor says Weatherford College cleared trees, damaged fence and lacked notice; staff to follow up

During the citizen comment period at the July 8 meeting, resident Jimmy Rodriguez said Weatherford College purchased land near Martin Drive, removed more than two acres of trees behind his house and damaged his boundary fence. Rodriguez said he did not receive mailed notice about the college's project and first learned about it by word of mouth.

Rodriguez described concerns about the type of fencing to be installed (asking whether it will be privacy fence, chain-link or masonry), potential impacts to a well water supply that sits on adjacent property and an underground electrical transformer line that crosses the site. He said he had difficulty getting answers from city staff and the college and asked where to obtain definitive information about the fencing plans and property lines. "They destroyed the house, about the well water... Someone didn't do their homework or research," Rodriguez said, recounting his conversations with the college's representative.

Mr. McDonald told Rodriguez staff would meet with him after the meeting to discuss the fencing, easements and any utility concerns and to try to provide clearer information. No formal action was taken during the meeting; staff recorded a follow-up meeting to address the resident's questions.
