County staff gave a status update on the jail project and related funding efforts during the July 8 Morrow County commissioners session.
Jamie, a county staff member, said a 48-hour third-party review for the jail project is due back this week and that, once the review is returned, staff will be ready to schedule a phase-2 site visit with board members. "Once we get that back, we'll have everything ready to do with the task week to reach out to that work, schedule a phase 2," Jamie said.
Jamie also described fundraising logistics, saying several upcoming large fundraisers require some cash flow up front to get projects moving and that the county expects to be reimbursed as work proceeds. Staff reported receiving an initial email from the state about capital-budget funding opportunities; Jamie said a group has reached out to begin discussions about a Gil Avenue project and the dollars that may be available.
Those updates were presented for informational purposes; no formal action or directive to staff was recorded in the meeting transcript. The board moved on to other administrative items and adjourned later in the session.
