Parker council directs staff to pursue modest City Hall remodel to add administrative capacity

City staff presented two City Hall renovation options on July 7: a modest, low-cost reconfiguration to add roughly 30 square feet of workspace and a customer service counter (estimate $16,400; not-to-exceed $23,000) and a more extensive enclosure and porch/roof redesign estimated around $150,000. The modest option would replace plexiglass with bullet-resistant glass, add upper cabinets, create a secure corridor and provide space to hire a budgeted administrative assistant.

Council members generally favored the short-term solution, citing uncertain long-term facility needs and the importance of adding administrative capacity quickly. Several members noted that larger remodels may be premature while the city assesses future facilities planning.

Staff will consult with administrative personnel on logistics, return with more precise scheduling and order the work under the $23,000 not-to-exceed amount if no major issues emerge.

Next steps: staff to finalize contractor quotes, coordinate timing to minimize service disruption and proceed with the modest remodel to enable hiring of an administrative assistant.
