Votes at a glance: payments, ordinance change, CDBG amendment, and closed session instruction

At its meeting the Denison City Council recorded several formal actions:

- Approved Invoice 2473 to Rice Construction Company for the South 24th Street culvert project in the amount of $20,419.16. The motion was seconded and passed on roll call.

- Approved Pay Application 20 from Jensen Builders for the Crawford County Wellness Center project in the amount of $9,377.12; motion seconded and adopted by roll call.

- Approved an amendment to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) technical services contract (Region 12/IDDA) to add a $15,000 line item and federal procurement language; motion seconded and approved.

- Considered and adopted an amendment to section 105.17 (solid waste control and recycling fees and charges). Council moved to remove the paragraph addressing multifamily dumpsters, waived the second and third readings, and adopted the ordinance as amended.

- Tabled two items for later consideration: a request from Forever Ave Rescue Inc. (applicant not present) and a rental-registration matter for 821 3rd Avenue South (owner not present). Both items were tabled so applicants could appear in person in the future.

- Voted to enter closed session under Iowa Code 21.5(1)(c) to discuss litigation strategy with counsel. After returning to open session, council instructed counsel to proceed as discussed in closed session; the instruction was carried by roll call.
