Castle Dale council adopts 2027 budgets, sets county tax rate and approves park equipment purchases

The Castle Dale City Council unanimously approved the city’s 2027 budgets and set a county tax rate of 0.000841 at its June 11 meeting.

Recorder Siri Jensen presented the proposed county tax rate of 0.000841, which the council recorded as budgeted revenue of $82,239. Council member Bradley Giles motioned to adopt the 2027 budgets; Council member Emily Mills seconded the motion and the vote passed with all four attending council members voting yes.

The council also approved three purchases presented by Maintenance Supervisor Ignacio Arrien: $10,000 for the third installment of rubber surfacing to finish Cheddar Field, a $5,000 utility vehicle to replace a 2007 vehicle, and a $5,000 tractor mower to pull the city’s leaf blower. Council member Joel Dorsch moved to approve the purchases; Council member Glen Gerber seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to approve.

Earlier in the meeting, Council member Giles successfully moved to open all 2026 budgets to allow adjustments within and between those budgets through the end of July 2026. The council also opened and closed a public hearing on the 2027 budget; no members of the public spoke during the hearing.

The council approved payment of presented bills before adjourning at 7:41 p.m.
