Green Lake maintenance reports possible $30,000 plow truck frame repair; board authorizes inquiry about rental replacement

Maintenance staff reported damage to the town’s plow truck and a possible frame failure that may cost roughly $30,000 to repair, the board was told Monday. Dan, the town’s maintenance staff member, said he sent photos to Quality Truck, which is assembling a quote and suspects the truck’s frame may be twisted.

While the damaged vehicle is being assessed, Ripon Truck Repair has a truck available for use. Committee member Strelow moved, and Committee member Berndt seconded, a motion authorizing Ben to ask Ripon Truck Repair whether the town could rent a replacement truck for $1,000 per month; the motion carried.

Dan also reported operational updates: crews have been weighing trucks empty and full to track salt usage, are adequately supplied with salt, replaced a steering assist box on the 1999 truck, are ordering additional grader tire chain links, plan to limb trees with a county boom truck in February, and that he and Austin will attend MSHA training on Jan. 16.

The board did not record a detailed repair estimate beyond the preliminary note that frame replacement could approach $30,000; the transcript does not record whether the town will pursue repairs or insurance claims pending the full quote.
