The Kosciusko County Council on July 9 approved an additional appropriation of $3,161,000 for replacement of Bridge 287, the span over Wilding Creek on 450 East, drawing from the county’s bridge replacement fund (8020) that already holds the appropriation authority.
Steve Moriarty (speaker 9) presented the request, confirming the project will be paid out of the county’s bridge replacement fund. Moriarty said the appropriation was requested so bills can be paid from that dedicated fund. The council moved and approved the appropriation by voice.
Moriarty also requested a $27,000 transfer from workers’ compensation into property and liability insurance to cover anticipated insurance cost increases tied to a new bulk mill; the council approved that transfer as well.
Separately, the council approved applying for a 100% reimbursable GRIP (grade crossing) grant for 2027 to upgrade railroad crossing markings; the requested application amount was $23,100.
