Wilbraham reviews meter readings, outstanding balances and Paradise Creek agreement; Friendly’s bankruptcy under review

At the March 6, 2026 meeting the board discussed operational steps for billing and collections. Water meter readings have commenced; the town will issue demand notices once weather conditions improve, distribute red door hangers to properties with stationary readings exceeding one billing cycle, and post a public notice on the town website encouraging prompt payment to avoid additional interest. The board said Information Technology and the Police Department will assist with public notification efforts.

The minutes record outstanding balances of Water $43,626.98 and Sewer $18,752.28 for a combined total of $62,379.26. The board approved one abatement; the minutes do not specify the abatement amount or the recipient.

Under other business the board discussed that Paradise Creek Condominiums must execute a Consecutive Water Agreement; the agreement is being revised to conform to standard language used for other high-volume users. Water Superintendent Vinnie Pafumi will verify backflow prevention devices at applicable properties.

The minutes also note that the Friendly’s bankruptcy case remains under review by Town Counsel and that Commissioner John Caltabiano requested authorization to review the file; Town Counsel may attend a future meeting for further discussion.
