Board approves $196,974.78 Kellogg scholarship distribution and several personnel actions

The Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi board voted to distribute $196,974.78 from the AL Kellogg Scholarship fund to eligible graduates as of June 30, 2026.

During the organization meeting, S3 moved to approve the scholarship distribution and the motion passed after a second. The board then moved to adopt the district policy manual incorporating changes made over the past school year; that motion was also seconded and approved by voice vote.

The board approved a package of personnel recommendations: resignations (including Alicia Boyer), extracurricular appointments (Elizabeth Kibet), and instructional hires. Among the hires announced by district staff were Dinesh Yada, a math teacher with 23 years’ experience who "goes by Mr. D.Y.," and Michelle Zayah, who will serve in literacy and AIS roles and brings prior experience from neighboring districts. The superintendent (staff member) noted that Yada has New York State certification and that fingerprint clearance had been received.

Other personnel actions approved included the appointment of Sean Newman as co-safety coordinator for the elementary school and a civil-service status change for Jeff Hulse. The board also accepted the director of special education’s report covering the period noted and approved CSC recommendations.

The board recorded motions and approvals by voice votes and confirmed there were no financial reports for the session. Many of the personnel approvals are subject to final onboarding and certification checks noted by district staff.
