Antioch trustees approve Centennial Park owner purchases after administrator outlines $242,198.70 in quotes

The Village of Antioch Board of Trustees approved a resolution authorizing owner purchases for Centennial Park improvements, moving forward with several items that the administrator said are within the board’s cost opinion of $244,402.

Trustee Tracy Pierce asked for a clearer breakdown of what the $244,402 covered and which elements were still uncovered. Administrator (S6) responded: "We now have the quotes... those quotes will come in under the cost opinion." He gave a line-by-line total: "the playground will be purchased. That is $160,260... fitness equipment, $14,094.70... the shelter... this final number will be $43,820... the bag toss and table comes in equal to the cost opinion, $5,740... the bench, the trash cans, and the court material will be $16,634, and the interpretive sign is $1,650. That equals a total of $242,198.70." He added that the overall project value is approximately $1,300,000 and that the items requested that evening were specific purchases outside the general contractor scope.

Pierce pressed what additional costs might be expected; Administrator (S6) said some items have long lead times and that there is "quite a bit of work still to be done," and he offered to provide a more comprehensive update on the playground schedule and other outstanding tasks.

The board approved the owner-purchase authorization by roll call; the administrator recorded that the quotes come in under the cost opinion and the resolution passed.
