Little Rock man says ICE detained him by mistake; attorney seeks to clear his name

Victor Manuel Hernandez Romo, a Little Rock resident who the broadcast said has lived in the area for more than 25 years and has no criminal record, was held at a West Memphis ICE facility for about three weeks and released this week on a $1,500 bond, the program reported.

Romo's attorney said the detention followed an adjustment-of-status interview earlier in the month and alleged Romo was mistakenly linked to another individual in a different state who has a removal order and criminal history. "There are a lot of mistakes happening right now that the government is overlooking, and it has real consequences for people who try to do the right thing," the attorney told the broadcast.

The reporter said Romo is working through legal channels toward U.S. citizenship and that his family described the experience as emotionally difficult. The broadcast did not report the exact next court date.
