Aviation advisory board votes to remove redundant pets sentence from T-hangar lease template

Board members reviewed the county’s T-hangar lease template at the July 9 meeting and voted to remove a sentence about pets on the grounds it duplicates existing rules and regulations.

Todd Regan, the aviation project manager, said the lease already incorporates rules and regulations and recommended deleting the redundant pets sentence: "There's a sentence in here about pets. There's already pets are already addressed in our rules and regulations. So why have the double duty?" A board member moved to remove the sentence and the board voted in favor; the motion carried.

Staff said they will check with county attorneys whether the proposed edit requires returning the lease to legal review. The lease also includes fees and provisions for late or dishonored checks; Todd said the lease currently specifies $75 for administrative processing of a dishonored check and he will verify whether that amount should match the County Clerk's published fees.

Why it matters: lease terms govern tenant expectations and enforcement at both Crystal River and Inverness airports; removing redundant language reduces potential contradiction between lease text and the rules and regulations.

Next steps: staff will confirm whether county legal review is required and, if needed, bring any required edits back to the board for formal approval.
