The Kosciusko County Department of Parks and Recreation Board on July 9 reviewed its draft 2027 budget and voted to recommend the proposal to the county council after making several line‑item adjustments.
Board members discussed how to split travel and conference costs so mileage and fuel are tracked separately from training and conference fees. Directors proposed reallocating funds for membership, conferences and mileage so reimbursements follow county policy. Chair said the board will send the adjusted draft to council for formal consideration.
The board recorded that the draft uses Fund 4118, identified in the meeting as the park and recreation donation fund, as the source for some items; members asked staff to confirm the final revenue sources when the council reviews the package. A director asked whether the county follows the IRS mileage rate for reimbursements and was told the county’s rate fluctuates.
A motion to recommend the budget with the changes was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board did not record a roll‑call tally in the meeting transcript.
The board expects county council review as the next procedural step; staff will circulate the final draft with the changes noted before that submission.
