Greenbush planning commission sets public hearing on rezoning request for 35-acre parcel

The Greenbush Planning Commission scheduled a public hearing in March to consider a rezoning request for 35 acres at N6301 Cty Rd U (Parcel No. 59002004410).

Planning Commission Chair James Weinbauer opened the agenda item and described the application from M T Properties. The parcel is about 35 acres and is reported in the minutes as being approximately 40% used for agriculture and 60% used for hunting and recreation. The applicant seeks to change the zoning from A1 to A5 to allow construction of a single residence while retaining agricultural and hunting/recreation uses on the remainder of the land.

Owner Mike Burkart told the commission he preferred to keep the parcel designated agricultural. Weinbauer suggested an alternative C-2 Conservancy zoning classification given that much of the property lies within the flood plain, but the minutes record Burkart
s favoring agricultural zoning. The minutes note that, despite floodplain conditions, there is an area on the property suitable for building a residence.
