Staff member (S6) told the board the parks’ online ticket link is live for a season-long fundraiser and asked board members to share it with the public. “It’s for the whole season. So then at the end I think it’s $4 per ticket we get back to the parks at the end of the season,” S6 said, adding that ticket purchases must use the special link or QR code for the parks to receive credit.
S6 also announced a Bronxburg Arnie’s dine‑in fundraiser on Sept. 17; participants must show a printed or digital slip so the parks receive credit. S6 summarized the restaurant arrangement as a percentage return for qualifying customers: “at the end of the day, we get 20% of everybody that said they were there for the parks department.” The board discussed methods to distribute slips and promote the fundraiser at the farmers market.
Other program updates from staff included farmers market themes running through August, a July 18 Cars and Coffee (8 a.m.–11 a.m.), an Aug. 5 dog night, a July 29 family night and free kids’ activities. S6 said Recreation Unlimited is scheduled to install a soccer goal at Scott Park on the 21st and that the park’s concrete pad and anchor bolts were placed in advance.
Operations notes: S6 reported Wi‑Fi extenders have been installed to allow restroom locks to be managed remotely and that new playground mulch was installed and looks good. Staff asked board members to help promote the ticket link and to consider printed sign‑up sheets at events to build an email list for a future newsletter.
What happens next: staff will continue outreach for ticket and dine‑in fundraising and follow up with vendor/recreation contacts to schedule installations. The board discussed distributing physical slips at the farmers market and using social media posts to boost engagement.
