The Village of Warrens Plan Commission on Feb. 2 reviewed a draft zoning ordinance specific to the existing Jellystone Campground and approved tailored numeric setbacks and coverage limits while requesting two clarifications before forwarding the draft to the Village Board.
The minutes state the campground is currently classified as Commercial Recreation but that the classification “does not fully address operations.” To address that gap, the commission voted to approve numeric setbacks and coverage limits in the draft ordinance and asked staff to update the minimum fire pit setback to 10 feet from any structure and to reword Section E, which addresses the relationship of the draft ordinance to park rules, condominium bylaws and permits, to better clarify its first paragraph. M. Kaul moved the approval; L. Schroeder seconded, and the motion carried 5-0.
The approval recorded in the minutes applies to the draft language; the commission’s action was to adopt the numeric standards pending the two edits and to forward the revised draft to the Village Board for further consideration and final action. The minutes do not record public comment on this item or an estimated timeline for Village Board review.
The clerk’s posting notes show the agenda and actions were posted on Feb. 3, 2026, at Village Hall, the Warrens Post Office, Warrens Mall and on the Village website.
