Early council to ask 4-H for park-name input; approves liquor licenses and resolves a resident billing dispute

The Early City Council voted Feb. 3 to ask local 4-H members for input on renaming a park in honor of Early Achievers 4-H and directed staff to prepare a resolution if the naming proposal proceeds.

The council approved a liquor license for a Pheasants Forever banquet and approved an amendment to the liquor license for Casey's on motions that passed during the meeting. Council member Brian Pickhinke moved to approve the Pheasants Forever license; Brandon Scadden seconded. The Casey's amendment was also approved on council motion.

During the citizens forum, Loren Misko, a resident living on Karr Ave outside the city limits, questioned a garbage charge on his bill. Council members discussed options for residents outside city limits who do not pay for sewer service; they said the resident may provide private dumpster service or contact the hauler directly and the city will remove that charge from his bill. Sharon Irwin, representing the Sac County Solid Waste Commission, reported the commission purchased a new end loader, is planning to purchase an 80-foot scale and has reduced tipping fees.

The meeting concluded shortly after these business items; Brian Pickhinke moved to adjourn and Cory Tiefenthaler seconded the motion, which carried.
