Selectboard dedicates Milton dog park to K9 Hatchi

The Milton Selectboard unanimously approved a resolution on July 6 to dedicate the Milton Dog Park in memory of Hatchi, the Milton Police Department’s first K9 officer.

Town Manager Chris Taylor presented the resolution noting Hatchi was donated by Missy and Chris Banke of Pinebrook Kennels and served alongside Corporal Jason Porter. The resolution states that across a six‑and‑one‑half‑year career Hatchi and Corporal Porter completed more than 2,000 training hours and conducted more than 2,100 narcotics searches, with a reported success rate exceeding 98 percent. The Selectboard approved renaming the park “Hatchi Dog Park” and directed the Town to install an entrance sign commemorating Hatchi’s service.

The motion was made by Betsy Paret and seconded by Darren Adams; the vote was unanimous.
