Commission approves using buses as barrier at Wings Over Wausau

The Wausau Transit Commission approved a request to use buses to create a protective barrier at the Wings Over Wausau event after the director said the agency could move buses from the garage at no cost.

The director said organizers needed roughly 500 feet of protected space and that the agency's express route buses and shop staff could provide the service without added expense. "We have shop workers and maintenance people that can drive them over there, so there's not gonna be a cost to us," he said.

Commissioners moved and seconded the request and the motion passed unanimously.

Commissioners asked whether shuttle service would be provided; the director said there would be no shuttles for that event. They also discussed future promotional opportunities and outreach at community events.

Next steps: Operations staff will coordinate moving buses for the event as approved by the commission.
