Superintendent highlights Blue Ribbon honors, summer meal service and staff trainings

Superintendent Scott Cowart used his report to highlight school recognitions and summer operations.

Cowart told the board that Central Elementary and Temple Middle School are being recognized by the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence for recent improvement strategies. He also thanked nutrition staff for summer meal service and said the district has "served an unbelievable number of meals" this summer.

Cowart described recurring staff development through the Capturing Kids' Hearts program, noting the district has trained several hundred employees in recent years. He previewed a leadership kickoff the week after July 4 that will bring school- and district-level leaders together, and he invited board members to attend a safety summit with local first responders. Staff said a schedule summary document will be circulated to the board.

Mr. Griffiths reported the teacher induction program will include roughly 120 participants this cycle, down from previous years, and that the event functions as an all-employee induction including counselors and paraprofessionals. Dr. Jess Gainsworth noted recognitions planned for July after weather-related postponement.

The superintendent's report closed with routine operational updates; no formal board action was required for these items.
