The Minden City Council voted unanimously to authorize Mayor Mary Cox to apply for and, if awarded, execute documents for a Delta Regional Authority (DRA) fiscal grant to help fund a proposed water-well project. City staff described the opportunity as roughly a $1,000,000 DRA contribution toward an estimated $1.5 million project, with the city responsible for matching funds if the grant is awarded.
City staff member Tyler outlined the project and supplied a preliminary cost estimate and project description during the discussion. The council’s motion to adopt a resolution giving the mayor authority to pursue the grant and guarantee matching funds passed without dissent.
Supporters said the project would improve local water infrastructure and that state and federal support could help secure additional matching funds. At the same time, the resolution and staff comments made clear the city could decline to provide a local match if the council later determined it was not feasible.
The council’s vote authorizes the mayor to sign and submit grant paperwork and to provide any required local assurances; next steps include finalizing the grant application and related cost estimates before submission.
