The Logansport Redevelopment Commission accepted its May 2026 financial reports, heard budget and TIF projections, and approved several routine actions, including opening Eastgate property bids and approving small program reimbursements.
During the financial review the chair said Baker Tilly projects an additional $230,561 in the current tax period. He also reported $563,746.68 in items pending and called attention to a temporary negative $87,000 entry tied to a boutique hotel account, which reflects timing and booking of long-term projects rather than cash flow shortfalls. "We are projecting that we should be receiving an additional $230,561 in theory in this tax period from what Baker Tilly has projected," the chair said while reviewing the packet.
The commission opened two sealed bids for the Eastgate parcel: KMA Dirt Works ($111,860.62) and Dorn Associates Inc. ($159,700). The commission voted to take the bids under advisement, form a review committee and return a recommendation at the July meeting.
On administrative items the board approved a postage reimbursement and an exterior-improvements request. The chair said his company paid postage to send certified notices as part of a new state notification requirement; he said the postage paid was $115.28, but the motion that passed authorized reimbursement in the amount of $150.28 to McCord's Do It Best (the difference was not explained in the meeting). The commission also approved Resolution 2026-326 to reimburse Michaelson Stevenson 15% of $14,200 — $2,130 — under the exterior improvements program.
The commission authorized staff to obtain appraisals and take preparatory steps to market a house remodeled by the Century Career Center and to return with final sale recommendations. Commissioners debated using broker opinions versus formal appraisals and whether to list through a realtor or a formal RFP. Chair said final acceptance of any sale offer will come back to the board for approval.
Board members also flagged an upcoming Lexington Village bond payment ($59,265) where current TIF receipts held only about $2,036.49 so the commission will need to identify cover funding when the payment is due. Members discussed options including discretionary funds or using the revolving loan program for privately owned projects, and noted that Baker Tilly will be consulted on procurement and compliance questions.
All motions described above passed by voice vote; the meeting adjourned with a July meeting date set.
