New Nashville stadium on track for Feb. 17, 2027 substantial completion, officials say

Titans and Sports Authority officials told the board the new stadium remains on schedule for substantial completion on Feb. 17, 2027, as construction teams complete exterior punch list work and prepare to finish interior systems.

Kellen DeCourcy, a Titans construction representative, said the project is "about eight months from completion" and described recent milestones on the cable-net system and the installation sequence for the ETFE pillow — a sealed, inflated membrane that will condition the space. "From here we're moving to get this cable net completely locked in and taught," DeCourcy said, adding that secondary steel and clamping for the ETFE pillow will follow.

Why it matters: The schedule affects preopening logistics for events and the demolition timeline for the existing Nissan Stadium. Board members also heard updates on adjacent infrastructure that must align with stadium timelines.

Officials described several related projects. Staff reported work on the 2nd Street realignment, a duct bank (secondary electrical feed), a pump station expected to finish by year-end, and the Sigenthaler Bridal Connector (SVC). Kellen said Reeves Young has been selected as the construction manager for the SVC and that staff are finalizing contract details.

Adolfo, a Titans host representative, summarized contracting and local participation: "We are at $258,600,000 in payments thus far, to 166 firms that are small, local, diverse, etc.," and said the project remains on track to meet its 25% DBE goal.

Reggie Polk, a contractor principal, reviewed workforce and safety figures: roughly 8,100 workers have been active on site, the program has recorded about 6.37 million work-hours, and the site has a total of 24 recordable incidents to date with two lost-time cases; the project’s TRIR sits at about 1.75, below the Tennessee average cited by Polk. He also highlighted a 90% diversion rate for construction waste.

The board heard that public-art selection efforts yielded nearly 200 artist submissions and that selections to date are Tennessee-based artists; staff said they will announce artists in the coming months.

Workforce development remains a priority: staff said the TC2 construction training program has graduated its 11th cohort and a 12th cohort is underway. The new Stadium Culinary Combine, run under Sodexo’s management, will provide an incubator for local food-and-beverage businesses to pursue concessions, catering and other venue opportunities.

On demolition, Adolfo said planning is an "intricate dance" because of inventory, logistics and timing around postseason schedules; staff committed to a more detailed demolition update at the next meeting.

The board received the report; staff will return with a demolition plan and the First Horizon Park facility assessment in August. The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20 at First Horizon Park.
