Boscawen health and planning staff require updated septic plan for 109 High Street after overflow complaints

Kellee Jo Easler, the town’s Planning & Community Development Director and health officer, told the Planning Board that the septic design for Canterbury House at 109 High Street expired in June 2026 and that the property had received complaints of wastewater spilling onto a neighboring property.

Easler said the system was approved as a nine‑person septic but that Town records and a recent fire department visit indicated more than nine people were living there; staff reported the system was pumped in January and April. After consulting with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES), Easler said the change of use on the property means the septic system should have been replaced.

Carli Walsh moved that the property owner submit an updated septic plan to DES and then submit a site plan application to the Planning Board to update compliance; Polly Dawson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

The Board’s action requires the owner to obtain DES review and to pursue a site plan filing so staff can verify the system meets current requirements.
