Park County approves revised workers’ compensation cyber renewal retroactive to July 1

Park County commissioners approved a revised workers’ compensation cyber insurance renewal, retroactive to July 1, 2026, after staff reduced the payroll estimate used to calculate the county’s premium.

Maritza, a county staff member who reviewed payroll classifications, told the commission that an initial submission by Erica showed gross wages totaling $3,000,000, which she considered unusually high. "I went through it and sorted by the different classifications and came up with the 1,600,000 figure," Maritza said, and submitted that revised total to the county’s vendor to adjust the premium for the year.

That recalculation produced a lower renewal premium. A staff speaker reported: "The current term is $209,004.78 annual premium, and the renewal is a $191,005.61," which the speaker characterized as a saving of almost $18,000 effective July 1 if the commission approves the renewal retroactively.

Commissioner Vermillion moved to approve the revised renewal retroactive to July 1, 2026; the Chair seconded the motion and the commission voted verbally in favor with "Aye." The transcript records the motion as approved but does not provide a roll-call tally or individual vote record.
