The Salem Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a declaration of local disaster emergency on Jan. 25, adopting Resolution 8-2026 during an emergency conference-call meeting.
The resolution, filed as Resolution 8-2026 and titled "A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF SALEM, COUNTY OF WESTMORELAND, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA APPROVING A DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER EMERGENCY," was moved by Bob Zundel and seconded by Todd Paulich and carried with all three supervisors voting in favor. Kerry Jobe said the declaration was "highly recommended by both Fred Cecchini and Bobby Rosetti." The meeting record does not specify the resolution's operative provisions beyond the title and adoption.
The board also voted to adjourn and announced a public hearing on Feb. 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m., both to be held at the Salem Township Municipal Building. The meeting adjourned at 6:46 p.m. The minutes were recorded as "Respectfully submitted, Kelly Otto."
