The Moultonborough Conservation Commission on July 6 was asked by Town Planner Chuck Wise to review a potential Town acquisition of Map 203-002 (5 Ferry Road) for use as a cemetery and to provide an advisory recommendation under RSA 41:14-a. Wise told the commission the Town is seeking ConCom’s input on whether it supports the acquisition and, if not, what amendments or conditions it would recommend.
The planner also noted that the Town is reviewing its blasting regulation and that ConCom’s land‑use review work informs Planning Board decisions. Separately, Wise announced ConCom’s July 10 site visit at 9 a.m. for a proposed development at 62 Moultonborough Neck Road, which will appear before the Planning Board; he asked members to provide feedback on whether ConCom should support or suggest amendments to that development plan.
Why it matters: A commission recommendation under RSA 41:14-a helps shape whether the Town pursues public acquisition for municipal uses such as cemeteries and can identify conservation or access conditions the Town may require. The commission did not take a formal vote on the acquisition request at the July 6 meeting and will provide input as requested by the Town Planner.
The Town Planner’s request for a ConCom advisory opinion and the announced site visit are the next steps; the commission is expected to review materials and submit its written feedback to the Land Use Office.
