Carlsbad council adopts stop-control ordinances at four intersections; one councilmember recused from a vote

The City Council adopted two ordinances establishing permanent stop controls at neighborhood intersections after brief procedural consideration.

On the second reading, the council adopted an ordinance establishing "always stop" control at the intersection of Tamarack and Sunny Hill. There were no public speakers on the item; the council recorded a 40 vote with Councilmember Burkholder recusing herself from the vote.

Separately, the council adopted an ordinance establishing an "always stop" control at the intersections of Batiquitos Drive and Aviera Drive. That measure passed unanimously.

Both ordinances were adopted under the council's consent/adoption procedure and will take effect per the city's ordinance schedule.
