Davis County commissioners approve routine contracts and grants including Airshow amendment, health funds and indigent defense contract

At the July 7 meeting the Davis County Board of Commissioners approved several routine business items including contract amendments, grant receivables and limited-use agreements.

Community and Economic Development staff requested and won approval to amend contract 2026147 with the Utah Airshow Foundation, moving the previously scheduled 2026 'Warriors Over Wasatch' event to June 19–20, 2027 and rolling existing contract terms forward.

The Health Department presented two items: a $2,000 payable to Tanner Clinic for community clinical intervention work (06/01/2026–06/30/2026) and a $486,649 receivable from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services as minimum performance funds for the 07/01/2026–06/30/2027 fiscal year. Both items were approved unanimously in the meeting record.

Human Resources presented ratification of a $327,320 receivable from the Utah Indigent Defense Commission and a contract for attorney Nick Falcone capped at $75,000 per year and billed at $125 per hour for specialized cases (typically first-degree felonies). Commissioners discussed statewide staffing shortages for indigent defense attorneys and approved the items.

The Sheriff’s Office presented three limited-use agreements for the Davis County Shooting Range: Lakeview/Lakeside Rifle & Pistol Association for $3,120 (07/01/2026–06/30/2027), Heathen Precision .22 LR club for $780 (07/07/2026–07/07/2027), and Lakeview Rifle & Pistol Association/Wasatch Pins and Plates Club for $2,700 (07/07/2026–07/07/2027). The agreements were approved.
